Record Level Security in Salesforce

Hi Everyone,

In this blog post, we will talk about how to record level security works in salesforce and what happened behind the scenes.

If you have not read the previous blog about ORG Level Security and Object Level Security then refer to this Link.

Here is the picture representation of the record level security.

Once you are logged in to your salesforce org and you have access to the salesforce object. Now, you wanted to access records of that Object, salesforce performs few checks and described in the above picture.

What is OWD

OWD is the default level of access to Salesforce records once you have permission to object at profile level.

  1. Private
  2. Public Read Only
  3. Public Read/Write
  4. Public Read/Write/Transfer
  5. Controlled by Parent

Note: – You can only access records if you have access to Object at-least Read Object.

So, let’s see how it works with live Hands-on in salesforce. Be with me by watching this video.
